First impressions are everything, especially when it comes to creating a warm, welcoming lobby for our client’s luxury condo in Jupiter, FL. Principal Designer Ashleigh Wilson takes us through the vision for Southporte One’s reimagined public space.
What was interesting or unique about this space? What were your design goals?
They had very dark and dated interiors, which were not cohesive with the architecture of the building. The ceilings are low to today’s standards. The goal was to lighten and brighten the space while making the interiors harmonious with the architecture. We saw the opportunity to bring in some updated mid-century modern fixtures to work with the geometry of the space and added a stacked textured glass wall as a focal point in the entry.
What were some of the materials that you gravitated toward for this project?
Light neutral textures, with accents of blues and greens, and some fun pops of turquoise and citron were brought in the trims and artwork. Burnished brass accents added a warm contrast. An antique mirror was brought in to brighten up the low dark activity room
Did you use any special vendors or products during this project?
Chris Reisert created the beautiful stacked glass feature wall in the entry, and Shaw carpet manufactured the custom rugs and hallway carpet.
How does your approach to a commercial space differ from a residential space?
The durability of materials and longevity of style are major components of designing a commercial space. Our focus has to be on pleasing the general public, instead of appealing to a specific homeowner’s taste.
